Grants
Once we reach our financial goals of opening and operating the Rise School of Stillwater, we will begin taking applications for grants. The three main types of grants we will focus on include:
  • Grants for scientific research.
  • Grants for programs providing communities with Down syndrome awareness education, support and recreational programs.
  • Student scholarships.
Check back here for the latest developments on grants!

Grants for Scientific Research

There is a tremendous amount of research and scientific investigation that still needs to be funded and conducted with regards to Down syndrome. Some of the areas of study include cell and developmental biology, human medical genetics, neurology, craniofacial biology, pharmacology and clinical drug research, biophysics, pediatrics, psychiatry, autoimmune disease investigation and genotyping.

Grants for Down Syndrome Awareness, Education & Support Programs

We believe that children with Down syndrome and other special needs deserve as much community awareness and support as we can give them. That is why we are funding the Rise School of Stillwater as our first project. Our hope is that future grants will fund similar programs with one or more of these goals in mind:
  • Promoting positive public awareness and support to children with Down syndrome and their families
  • Providing education and training to parents to teach them the effective educational methods and therapies needed to raise their special needs children to their fullest potential
  • Providing funding and/or grants for community outreach programs that provide recreational and educational activities for children with special needs
  • Facilitating community-based adult living for those with Down syndrome that encourages continued participation in community and social recreation activities
  • Creating or enabling more employment opportunities for those with Down syndrome

Grants for Student Scholarships

We firmly believe that children with Down syndrome and other special needs deserve the opportunity to continually enrich their lives through education. Some parents choose to send their children to regular public schools, but there are also specialized pre-schools (like the Rise Schools), primary education and continued education programs that are devoted to students with special needs.

Many of these schools and programs charge tuitions that some parents cannot afford. Through our grants we will award student scholarships to deserving families and individuals to help cover the cost.
